This news is about self-driving cars, not home energy upgrades, so it doesn't affect your house or any rebate programs. Waymo, the robotaxi company, has opened its ride-hailing service to everyone in Dallas after months of limited testing with an interest list of nearly 150,000 riders. People in the city can now download the Waymo app and hail a car with no human driver.
Waymo also said it plans to expand where its cars can go in the Dallas area. It's testing rides to and from terminals at Dallas Love Field Airport and testing on Dallas freeways, both steps toward eventually offering those routes to the public. A local advocacy group, Epilepsy Foundation Texas, said the service could help people who can't drive due to medical conditions get around more independently.
None of this involves your home, your utility bills, or any weatherization or rebate programs. If you're in Dallas and curious, this just means a robotaxi option is now available citywide rather than only to people on a waitlist. For everyone else, it's simply a sign that Waymo continues rolling out its service to more cities in stages, moving from testing to limited access to full public service.
