Retrofit Relay
About Retrofit Relay

The data is the product. Here's how we keep it honest.

Rebate programs open, close, run out of money, and change amounts all year. Most sites copy each other and let the errors compound. We built Retrofit Relay around the boring work instead: verification against primary sources, dated stamps on every claim, and a corrections queue we actually run.

01 · The process

How a number earns its place on this site.

The same four steps, every state, every program.

01

Primary sources only

Every figure starts at the administering organization's own site: the state energy office, the utility program page, the DOE allocation table. Third-party aggregators are used as leads, never as sources.

02

Cross-reference

Federal, state, and utility layers get checked against each other. When two sources disagree on an amount or a deadline, we chase the primary source or flag the number rather than pick the prettier one.

03

Dated verification

We keep a research file for every state and DC, and every program in it carries a verified-as-of date. When we can't re-confirm a figure against the agency's own site, it gets flagged or pulled. Fewer numbers beats wrong numbers.

04

Corrections queue

Stale or wrong data goes into a review queue and gets fixed before it ships again. Recent examples: we removed a widely-republished "$24,000" New York figure that doesn't appear anywhere on NYSERDA's own site, and we marked the expired federal 25C/25D credits as unavailable for new 2026 work the week the picture became clear.

02 · Where we are

Honest numbers for an early-stage operation.

We would rather show you the real scale than dress it up.

We launched in 2026 and we're small on purpose. No press logos yet, no five-star widget with ten thousand reviews, and we won't fake either one. What we have is the verification process above and a corrections habit we actually run. The proof accumulates from there.

03 · The company

Run from Westbrook, Maine, with roots in the trade.

Retrofit Relay is an independent company based in Westbrook, Maine, with working roots in home performance: insulation, air sealing, energy assessments, heat pumps. The recommendations on this site (envelope before equipment, size the system to the improved house, read the quote before you sign it) come from that field experience, not from a content calendar.

Here is how the business works, plainly: the tools and rebate data are free, and we earn money when we connect you with a contractor. The model is direct-first. A quote request goes to at most three contractors matched to your project and area, and you're told who they are. We don't blanket-sell your phone number to a list of strangers, and we don't sell your information to data brokers.

If we can't serve your area and a partner quote network can, we say so before anything moves. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
