PV Hardware USA builds out Houston factory footprint to meet U.S. tracker demand

July 27, 2026 · PV Magazine USA · Score: 28

A solar equipment maker, PV Hardware USA, is expanding its manufacturing operations in Houston to keep up with rising demand for solar trackers, the metal structures that tilt solar panels to follow the sun through the day. The company says its U.S. business has grown 400% over the last three years. It opened its first Houston factory in 2024, expanded it to a capacity of 12 gigawatts, then added a second facility in 2025. Together the two sites let the company make trackers entirely from U.S.-sourced steel, handling the metal stamping, shaping, and tube-making in Texas rather than importing parts.

The company is also building a new pre-assembly building, expected to be finished by mid-September, where more of the construction work happens inside the factory instead of at the installation site. The idea is to cut labor costs and improve reliability once the equipment reaches a project. PVH USA says its trackers are engineered to hold up under a range of harsh weather, from desert heat to humid subtropical conditions to ice storms in the Northeast.

The expansion will grow the number of production lines at the Houston site from four to seven, a 60% increase in manufacturing capacity. This is a supply-chain story about a solar equipment manufacturer, not a program or rebate homeowners can apply for. It does not change what any individual household can install or claim, but it points to continued growth in domestic solar manufacturing as demand for solar projects increases nationwide.
