Yamaha launches sporty Aerox-E electric scooter with removable batteries

July 10, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 1

This one is about a scooter, not a home upgrade, but here's the gist. Yamaha has launched an electric version of its Aerox scooter in India, called the Aerox-E. It's a battery-electric two-wheeler aimed at the premium end of the market, with sporty styling, a 9.4 kW motor, and a claimed top speed of 95 km/h (59 mph). Riders get Eco, Standard, and Power modes, plus a Boost mode for quicker acceleration.

The scooter runs on two removable 1.5 kWh batteries (3 kWh total), which Yamaha says gives up to 117 km (73 miles) of range, with a full charge taking about 3 hours and 10 minutes on the included dock charger. Because the batteries pop out, owners without easy access to an outlet near their parking spot can charge them elsewhere. Early test rides in Indian media suggest real-world range in Eco mode may be closer to 80 km (50 miles) rather than the full claimed figure.

The Aerox-E is priced at 282,000 INR, or roughly $2,950, which puts it above several rival electric scooters already sold in India. It comes with extras like traction control, a color touchscreen display with smartphone connectivity, a smart key, and LED lighting throughout. None of this applies to home energy upgrades directly, but it's a reminder of how fast removable-battery designs are showing up in everyday electric vehicles, a trend that overlaps with home battery and charging technology homeowners may run into as EVs of all kinds become more common.
