XPENG Set to Enter the Philippines with the Globalized Mona
This is car news, not a home energy story, so it doesn't touch your house directly. Chinese automaker XPENG plans to enter the Philippines in the third quarter of 2026 with two electric vehicles, likely the L03 SUV coupe and the X9 premium electric van. The company will run its own operations there rather than working through a distributor, which the Philippines allows under a law letting foreign companies fully own EV manufacturing or distribution businesses.
The L03 is notable because XPENG designed it as a "global vehicle" from the start, meant for sale in 65 countries, rather than adapting a China-only model for export. It comes in a battery-only version rated for up to 520 kilometers of range, plus a range-extender version (which pairs a small gas engine with the battery to stretch total range past 1,000 kilometers) offered in some markets. That range-extender option could appeal in places like the Philippines where charging stations are still limited outside big cities. The car also includes Google Maps navigation tied to energy-use tracking and driver-assistance features.
Pricing, specs, dealerships and charging partners for the Philippines have not been announced yet. None of this affects home energy upgrades or rebates, but it's a sign that more global automakers are pushing electric vehicles into new markets, which could eventually mean more EV charging infrastructure appearing in more places over time.
