XPENG Grows in Malaysia, & Readies G9L for Global Launch
Chinese automaker XPENG is expanding fast overseas, but this is about car sales, not home energy upgrades. In Malaysia, the company is opening 10 new showrooms by the end of 2026 that combine sales with service, parts, and repair work, so owners have a full support center near them rather than just a place to buy the car.
XPENG is also preparing a global rollout of a new electric SUV called the G9L, built in both fully electric and range-extended (gas-assisted) versions. It debuted in China and will get its global launch on October 12 at the Paris Motor Show, with plans to sell it in 64 markets. The company says the SUV has passed 192 crash tests under safety standards used in Europe, Australia, and China, and has been road-tested across 26 countries.
None of this points to a US launch, and there is no news here about EV tax credits, home chargers, or rebates for American buyers. If you are weighing an EV purchase or a home charging setup, this is simply a sign that global EV competition keeps growing, even as it plays out mostly in markets outside the United States.
