Whoa, Honda to Stop Selling Prologue EV … What the Heck?

July 17, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 28

Honda is discontinuing the Prologue, its electric SUV, in the United States after the 2026 model year. That comes as a surprise, since the Prologue has been one of the best-selling EVs in the country, ranking 6th in 2025 and 8th last quarter, with sales recently picking back up after a dip tied to the loss of the federal EV tax credit last year.

The Prologue was always something of a stopgap for Honda. It's built on General Motors' Ultium electric platform, which Honda used to get an EV to market quickly while it worked on its own electric vehicle technology. So it was never a from-scratch Honda design, and its exit doesn't necessarily signal a retreat from EVs for the company overall.

For a homeowner, this doesn't change anything about home energy upgrades, rebates, or electrification programs. If you were considering a Prologue, it's worth noting you'll only be able to get the 2026 model before it's gone, and after that Honda's electric SUV lineup in the US will look different. If you're weighing an EV alongside home charging setup or a rebate for a home charger, it's a reminder to check current model availability before assuming what you saw last year is still on the lot.
