Where the Candidates Stand: Charlie Hatcher on Climate & Energy
This is a candidate profile rather than a home upgrade or rebate story, so it does not point to any direct action for your house. It covers Charlie Hatcher, the Republican running for Tennessee's Congressional District 5, and where he stands on energy issues ahead of the November 3 election.
Hatcher, a veterinarian and former Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture, is skeptical of federal support for renewable energy, saying he opposes subsidizing it "for a long period of time." He has not stated a position on climate change, electric vehicles, or data centers. He names energy costs, infrastructure, and food security as top issues for the district, and says he wants "responsible, common-sense investments" rather than more government spending on things like energy reliability, water, and roads. On affordability, he ties high energy costs to the price of groceries, manufacturing, and transportation, and says he'd work with the Trump administration to bring costs down. He also points to Tennessee's push to expand nuclear power as something he supports.
None of this changes rebates, incentives, or programs available to homeowners right now. If you live in Tennessee's 5th District and want your utility bills and energy policy views reflected on the ballot, the registration deadline is October 5, early voting runs October 14–29, and Election Day is November 3.
