Vanlife: Vantrack promises a Kia PV5 camper you can actually buy

July 13, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 8

This is vehicle news, not a home energy story, but here's the gist. A Dutch company called Vantrack is turning its camper conversion for the Kia PV5 electric van from a concept into an actual product you can order. The kit builds on the PV5 Passenger, one of Kia's electric vans, and adds a rooftop tent, a slide-out bed, a small kitchen setup with an induction cooktop, a few gallons of fresh water with a faucet, an insulated cooler, and extra storage. It's designed so the camper gear can be removed, turning the van back into a regular passenger vehicle.

This is a premium option, not a budget one. Similar camper kits for the same van have sold for around $2,000, but Vantrack's version costs about €25,000 more than the base PV5 Passenger it's built on, putting the total price near €65,000. The company is aiming at buyers who want a high-end, well-finished camping setup rather than the cheapest way to add a bed and a stove to an electric van.

For homeowners, this doesn't connect to home energy upgrades, rebates, or weatherization. It's simply an update on a new electric camper van option, with first deliveries expected this September for those interested in electric vehicle camping.
