The legendary Citroen 2CV is back as a €15k electric concept for 2028
This one's more car news than home upgrade news, but here's the gist. Citroën has unveiled a concept electric version of its classic 2CV, the quirky little French car that was popular from the 1940s through 1990. The company wants to put a production version on the road by 2028 with a starting price around €15,000, which is just under $17,000.
The new version keeps some signature touches from the original, like a roll-back fabric roof and a small, light footprint. Citroën says it's aiming for a weight of around 1,000 kg (2,205 pounds), which is light even by small-car standards. No official specs have been released on power or battery size, but based on similar small city EVs on the market, it might land somewhere around a 30 kWh battery and 150 miles of range.
For homeowners, this isn't directly about weatherization or rebates, but it's worth knowing about if you're weighing a move to an electric vehicle and want to pair it with home solar or a charger down the road. An affordable, compact EV like this could eventually widen the options for anyone thinking about going electric, especially in markets where it becomes available. For now, though, it's a concept car shown ahead of the Paris Motor Show, not something you can buy yet.
