Solar inverter manufacturer EPC Power expands for data center demand

July 15, 2026 · Solar Power World · Score: 32

Inverter maker EPC Power is opening a second factory in Fountain Sc, nearly tripling its production capacity. An inverter is the equipment that converts power from solar panels or batteries into the type used in homes and on the grid. The company says the new 167,000-square-foot plant is a response to rising demand for power equipment used in AI data centers, not homeowner solar directly.

The factory will build the company's M and MRACK series inverters, which are used for solar, grid, and battery storage systems, as well as data centers. EPC Power expects the plant to reach full production by the end of July, adding 27 gigawatts of annual capacity, and says it will create 275 new jobs.

For a homeowner, this news is mostly about industry supply chains rather than anything that changes costs or rebates on your own roof. More domestic inverter manufacturing capacity could, over time, help keep supply steady for solar and battery equipment used in home installations, since it reduces reliance on imported components. But this expansion is aimed at utility-scale and data center customers, so it does not come with any new incentive, rebate, or program that directly affects homeowners right now.
