Sol-Ark introduces inverter app to streamline solar-plus-storage commissioning
Sol-Ark, a Texas-based maker of hybrid inverters (equipment that manages both solar power and battery storage in one unit), has released a new app for installers called the MySolArk Installer App. It's meant to help technicians set up solar-plus-battery systems more consistently, walking them through steps like wiring checks, network setup, battery configuration, and grid settings before a system goes live.
For homeowners, this doesn't change equipment costs or rebates, but it could affect how your installation goes if you're getting a Sol-Ark system. The app is built to cut down on setup errors and speed up commissioning (the final checks that confirm a system is wired and configured correctly before it's turned on). It also lets installers set utility rate schedules and battery charging strategies aimed at lowering your electric bill, and it automatically creates a PDF report documenting your system's settings, which could be useful to keep for your own records or for warranty and rebate paperwork.
The app also tracks equipment performance over time, including live power flow and error logs, which could help catch problems with your system faster if your installer uses it to monitor multiple job sites. Sol-Ark says the software was built in the U.S. and stores customer data on U.S.-based servers, a response to growing concerns about foreign-made solar equipment and data security. Right now, the app only supports Sol-Ark's residential hybrid inverters; support for commercial systems is planned for a later update. It's available now for iOS and Android.
