Report says Porsche will end Taycan production by 2030, reversing course
This is car industry news, not a home energy story, but here's the gist if you're tracking the EV market. A German media report says Porsche plans to end production of the Taycan, its electric sport sedan, by 2030. That's a reversal from just last month, when Porsche's CEO said the car "isn't going anywhere" and that the company wanted to see how demand developed before making any decision.
The Taycan debuted in 2019 and set several performance records, but sales have slowed as buyers increasingly favor SUVs over sport sedans, and as Porsche's electric Macan SUV has drawn EV buyers who once had no other electric option at the brand. According to the report, Porsche's works council has agreed in principle to phase out Taycan production, though the deal hasn't been finalized in writing. A Porsche spokesperson declined to comment.
For homeowners, this doesn't change anything about home energy upgrades, rebates, or EV charging equipment. It's simply a signal of how one automaker is reshuffling its electric lineup — worth knowing if you're shopping for an EV or already own a Taycan and are curious about its long-term future, but it has no bearing on home solar, heat pumps, or efficiency incentives.
