Renault 8 Gordini reborn as 270 hp electric rally retromobile

September 26, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This is a car story, not a home energy story, so there is nothing here that affects your house or your upgrade plans.

Renault has built a concept car called the Gordini 8, an electric reimagining of its 1964 Renault 8 Gordini rally car. The original had a 95 horsepower engine mounted behind the rear axle and a reputation for being twitchy at speed, but it trained a generation of French rally drivers. The new electric version keeps the silhouette but adds 270 horsepower, modern suspension, bigger wheels (19 inches front, 20 rear), and wider wings to keep it stable. Renault's design team says it worked through more than 300 sketches before landing on the final look, and even mixed a custom shade of blue meant to echo the original car's paint while giving it more depth.

This is a one-off concept, not a car you can buy, and it has no connection to home energy upgrades, rebates, or efficiency programs. If you came here looking for news on heat pumps, weatherization, or rebate deadlines, this piece is not it.
