This one is about a new electric vehicle, not a home energy upgrade, so it won't affect your house or rebates. Still, here's what happened.

Range Rover showed a prototype of its second electric SUV, the Range Rover Sport Electric, in public for the first time over the weekend, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It follows the brand's first electric SUV, the flagship Range Rover Electric, which is set to go on sale by the end of this year. With the new electric version added, the Range Rover Sport lineup will offer diesel, six-cylinder gas, mild-hybrid V8, plug-in hybrid, and now fully electric options.

The Sport Electric is expected to start at about £100,000 (roughly $135,000) in the UK, cheaper than the flagship Range Rover Electric's estimated £150,000 (about $200,900) starting price. It uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup putting out a combined 542 horsepower and 637 lb-ft of torque, paired with the same 118.5 kWh battery as the flagship model. Range is estimated at about 380 miles on the European testing scale, or around 330 miles under the US EPA standard.

The Sport Electric is due to arrive later this year and will compete with other luxury electric SUVs, including BMW's new iX5 and the Porsche Cayenne Electric.
