Range Rover’s next EV breaks cover, and it’s not an SUV [Images]

This news is about a car, not a home upgrade, so there's nothing here that affects your house or an energy retrofit project. Still, here's what happened: Range Rover has shown a new electric vehicle called the GT, and unlike the rest of its lineup, it's not an SUV. It's a low, sleek "grand tourer" style car, and it will be the brand's first vehicle built on a new platform called EMA. It will launch as a battery-electric vehicle, with a hybrid version added later.

The GT is expected to use a 100 kWh battery, which could give it close to 500 miles of range, more than the flagship Range Rover Electric SUV's 373 miles. Production is set to start in the first half of 2027 in the UK. Pricing is expected to be around £75,000 (about $100,000) in the UK, and around $90,000 in the US, with an EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles.

None of this involves rebates, incentives, or anything tied to home energy programs. It's simply a look at a new luxury electric car from a well-known automaker, aimed at buyers shopping in a very different category than home energy upgrades.
