Porsche Looks to Boost Macan EV Sales

August 19, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 0

This is car news, not home energy news, but here's what it covers: Porsche is updating its electric Macan SUV for 2027 after sales cooled off. The Macan EV actually outsold its gas version in 2025, but sales dropped sharply in the first quarter of this year, so Porsche is adding features to make the EV more appealing.

The changes include a bundled "Advanced Package" with a panoramic roof, upgraded headlights, auto-dimming mirrors, better seats and sound system, and upgraded suspension. Porsche is also boosting home and public AC charging speed on the Macan GTS and Turbo models from 11 kW to 22 kW, meaning those versions could charge roughly twice as fast at a compatible charger. Other Macan trims keep 11 kW by default but can be upgraded to 22 kW.

None of this affects home energy upgrades or rebates. It's worth knowing only if you're shopping for an EV and curious about charging speed: a car that can accept 22 kW instead of 11 kW will fill up faster on a home Level 2 charger or public AC charger, though your actual charging speed still depends on what your charger and electrical setup can deliver. These updates are rolling out in Europe first, with North America expected later this year or next, so U.S. buyers won't see them immediately.
