Podium Takes on Legacy FSM With AI-Powered Platform

September 6, 2026 · ACHR News · Score: 38

A software company called Podium has launched a new AI-based system for running home service businesses, aimed at HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and garage door contractors. The system uses AI tools to answer calls, book appointments, manage membership programs, and handle back-office tasks like invoices and scheduling. It's meant to replace the older scheduling and dispatch software many contractors currently use.

This isn't something you'll interact with directly, but it could change how your service calls get handled. One contractor quoted in the announcement, a heating and cooling company in New Mexico, said switching to the system let them answer every call after hours without hiring more staff, after combining four separate software tools into one. If contractors in your area adopt similar systems, you might notice faster callbacks, easier scheduling, or someone booking your seasonal maintenance visit without you having to call in.

The bigger picture is that AI tools are increasingly showing up on the business side of home services, not just in the equipment itself. This doesn't affect rebates, upgrade costs, or which heat pump or insulation option makes sense for your house. It's simply a shift in how contractors manage calls and appointments behind the scenes, which may show up as smoother scheduling and communication when you book a repair or an efficiency upgrade.
