Otovo announces plans to establish operations in Hawaii with acquisition of local service provider

August 27, 2026 · PV Magazine USA · Score: 24

Otovo, an energy service company that maintains and monitors home solar and battery systems, is planning to acquire PV Hawaii, a solar service provider on Oahu. If the deal goes through, it would bring Otovo's business to Hawaii for the first time, making it the 17th state where the company operates. Hawaii has the highest electricity prices in the country, currently averaging almost 46 cents per kilowatt-hour, which is up nearly 11% from a year ago. For homeowners there with solar panels or battery storage, this could mean a new option for maintenance and repair service backed by a larger company.

Otovo offers membership plans for people who already own solar or storage systems, with tiers that include guaranteed response times (24 or 48 hours) for repairs, discounts on service, and an app for monitoring your system. The company doesn't install solar itself but focuses on keeping existing systems running and helping owners sell power back to the grid or participate in shared "virtual power plant" arrangements.

This Hawaii move is part of a broader expansion. Otovo has bought several other regional solar service companies this year, including firms in California and Texas, as well as one with operations across 14 states. The company says its customer base has grown 80% recently and now tops 55,000 people. For a homeowner in Hawaii with an existing solar setup, this news mainly signals that more service and support options may become available, though details of the acquisition are not yet final.
