Momenta Goes from Robotaxis to Robovans

July 28, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 0

This news is about self-driving delivery vans, not home energy upgrades, so it does not affect your house or any rebate program. The company, Momenta, has spent years developing self-driving robotaxi technology and just launched "robovans," driverless vehicles that deliver parcels around the clock. They are running in Xiangcheng, a district of Suzhou, China.

The vans use a "map-free" system, meaning they navigate without relying on detailed pre-made maps of the roads, which the company says lets it roll the vehicles out faster and more cheaply. Momenta says the vans draw on data from more than 12 billion kilometers of real-world driving collected from its passenger vehicles. The company's long-term goal is to build one shared self-driving system that runs across regular cars, robotaxis, delivery vans, and trucks, and eventually other robotic uses.

None of this involves home insulation, heating and cooling equipment, or rebate programs, so there is nothing here that changes what a homeowner should know about weatherization, heat pumps, or energy costs. It is simply a look at how self-driving technology is expanding from carrying passengers to carrying packages, with China as the current testing ground.
