This is car news, not home energy news, but here's what's happening if you're shopping for an electric vehicle.
Mercedes is dropping a few models from its lineup for the 2027 model year. The all-electric EQE sedan, including its high-performance AMG version, is being discontinued. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680, a flagship electric SUV starting at $180,000, is also going away, along with the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, a plug-in hybrid (a vehicle with both a gas engine and a battery you can charge) that starts at the same price.
The EQS sedan and SUV are sticking around for now, though they'll likely be replaced by newer versions before long. These changes are part of a bigger shift at Mercedes away from its first generation of EVs, badged "EQ," toward a new lineup built on a different platform. The new CLA sedan is already on sale, with versions starting at $47,250 and offering up to 374 miles of range on a charge. A new GLA SUV, offered in both electric and hybrid versions, is expected to arrive at dealerships in the second half of 2027.
If you're weighing an EV purchase alongside home upgrades like a heat pump or rooftop solar, this mainly affects the pool of Mercedes models you'd be choosing from, not any rebate or charging program tied to your house.
