MARS Energy to acquire Citadel Roofing & Solar

August 28, 2026 · Solar Power World · Score: 23

MARS Energy Group has acquired Citadel Roofing & Solar, a Northern California contractor that installs both roofing and solar. The deal brings more than 1,000 Citadel employees onto the MARS platform and expands MARS's footprint across California, combining roofing and solar work under one company.

For homeowners in Northern California who have used Citadel or are considering solar or roofing work, the company says nothing changes day to day. Citadel will keep operating under its current leadership team, including President Dieter Folk, and customers will keep working with the same crews and contacts they already know. The idea behind the deal, according to both companies, is to give Citadel more resources and operational support while leaving its pricing, service, and staff as they are.

This is a business ownership change rather than a new program, rebate, or technology. It does not add any new incentive or deadline for homeowners to act on. If you already have a project with Citadel or are shopping for roofing and solar work in Northern California, this news mainly means the company behind your contractor now has backing from a larger group, MARS Energy, which also works in commercial and residential energy projects elsewhere in the state.
