Kia’s new EV3 is the same price as the Niro Hybrid, and nearly $10,000 less than the Niro EV

August 27, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

Kia's new electric SUV, the 2027 EV3, is now on sale in the US starting at $29,890 (plus a $1,495 delivery fee), the same starting price as the redesigned 2027 Niro, which is now sold only as a gas-electric hybrid. The EV3 is meant to replace the discontinued Niro EV, and it costs almost $10,000 less than that model did.

The base EV3 comes with a 58.3 kWh battery and up to 221 miles of range. Higher trims use an 81.4 kWh battery for up to 321 miles of range, more than the old Niro EV's 253 miles. All-wheel drive adds $3,200 on most trims. Every version has a built-in NACS port, the connector used for Tesla Superchargers, so no adapter is needed to charge at those stations. On a fast charger, the smaller battery can go from 10% to 80% charge in about 29 minutes, and the larger one in about 31 minutes.

Inside, the EV3 has a wide dual-screen dashboard setup, roughly 30 inches of combined display, plus a separate small touchscreen for climate controls. It's slightly shorter and wider than the old Niro EV but offers similar interior space. For homeowners weighing an EV purchase alongside home upgrades like a charger or solar, this adds an affordable, longer-range option to consider, priced close to the Chevy Bolt EV and Nissan Leaf.
