Kia’s EV2 draws ‘significant and immediate demand,’ with 3,386 registrations in the UK

October 7, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

Kia's new small electric SUV, the EV2, is selling fast in the UK, with 3,386 registrations so far this year and 1,753 of those coming in September alone. That made it the UK's top-selling retail electric car that month. The EV2 only began full customer deliveries in the UK partway through the year, so this is a quick start.

For anyone shopping for an EV, the EV2 is worth a look for its price. The entry-level EV2 Air long-range version starts at £24,245 after the UK government's Electric Clean Car Grant (a point-of-sale discount on qualifying electric cars), which knocks £3,750 off the sticker price. It comes in four trims with two battery sizes, a smaller 42.2 kWh pack and a larger 61 kWh pack that gives up to 281 miles of range on the WLTP test cycle, a European standard that tends to run a bit higher than real-world driving range.

This news applies to UK and European buyers. Kia is not selling the EV2 in the US. American shoppers looking for an affordable Kia EV should instead look at the EV3, which went on sale this year starting around $30,000. Kia's broader EV lineup, including the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, and EV9, has pushed the brand to record sales in both Europe and the US, so homeowners comparing electric vehicles may see more Kia models, and possibly better pricing or availability, as the company continues to expand its lineup.
