Kia’s EV push is paying off with a full lineup from entry-level electric SUVs to vans

July 7, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

Kia is expanding its electric vehicle lineup, and the push is paying off with record sales in the first half of 2026. The automaker now sells EVs ranging from the compact, affordable EV2 and EV3 up to the three-row EV9 SUV and its first electric van, the PV5. In the US, hybrid SUVs have driven Kia's best-ever first-half sales, while in Europe and the UK, mass-market EVs are behind the growth. Electric vehicles made up about 30 percent of Kia's UK sales this year.

For US homeowners weighing an EV purchase, the most relevant news is the EV3. It's expected to go on sale by the end of 2026, joining the EV6 and EV9 as Kia's electric options here. Kia hasn't announced pricing yet, but the EV3 is expected to start around $35,000 or less, which would make it one of the cheaper EVs on the market. It will come in five trims with two battery choices, estimated to offer either about 220 miles or 320 miles of range. Kia is discontinuing the Niro EV in the US, selling only its hybrid version until the EV3 arrives to take its place.

None of this involves a rebate or incentive specific to US buyers right now, though the UK has a government grant knocking thousands off the price of smaller Kia EVs there. If you're considering an EV for your household, this points to more affordable choices arriving here in the next year, alongside whatever federal or state EV incentives you may already qualify for.
