Kia PV5 High Roof spotted in public for the first time [Video]

July 21, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 2

This news is about an electric delivery van, not a home energy upgrade, so it does not directly affect your house. Kia's PV5 electric van, sold mainly for personal and business use, has been spotted in public in a new "High Roof" version ahead of an expected fall launch. The taller variant stands 295 mm higher than the standard PV5 Cargo, has a redesigned interior for easier movement between the driver's seat and cargo area, and will come in enclosed and refrigerated versions. Both include a safety feature that warns the driver if the rear door is open while shifting into park or reverse.

The PV5 is built on Kia's modular electric vehicle platform, which lets the company offer many body styles and sizes using the same core battery and motor components. The standard PV5 comes with two battery options, 51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh, giving a range of up to 183 or 256 miles depending on the version. Kia has also opened orders in the UK for a seven-seat passenger version starting around $44,500, and plans more variants ahead, including a taxi model, a small-business truck, and larger vans (PV7 and PV9) in coming years.

None of this involves home energy equipment, rebates, or efficiency programs. If you're weighing an EV purchase against home charging setup costs, it's worth knowing new van options are expanding, but this specific update is about commercial and passenger vehicle design, not anything tied to home upgrades or incentives.
