Kia EV3 EPA driving range revealed with up to 321 miles

August 11, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 16

Kia's compact electric SUV, the EV3, is close to going on sale in the US, and the EPA has now released official range numbers ahead of launch. The standard-range front-wheel-drive model, with a 58.3 kWh battery, gets 221 miles per charge. The long-range front-wheel-drive version, with an 81.4 kWh battery, gets up to 321 miles. An all-wheel-drive version using the same larger battery is rated at 280 miles. These figures are close to what Kia had already estimated.

For homeowners thinking about EV charging at home, a few details stand out. Kia says the standard-battery EV3 can fast-charge from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes on a DC fast charger. All North American EV3 models come with a built-in NACS charging port, the same plug Tesla uses, so drivers can charge at Tesla Superchargers without needing an adapter. That matters if you're weighing home charging equipment or thinking about which public charging networks you'd rely on.

Kia hasn't announced pricing yet, but the EV3 is expected to start around $35,000, positioning it as an affordable option compared to some other EVs, and slightly larger than the Chevy Bolt EV and Nissan LEAF. If you're considering an EV purchase alongside home upgrades like a charger installation, this is one more affordable model entering the US market soon, though exact pricing and any rebates or incentives tied to it haven't been confirmed yet.
