Jaguar’s new EV interior is just as controversial as its exterior [Images]

This one is car news, not home energy news, so there is not much here that touches your house directly. Jaguar showed the interior of its new electric Type 01 for the first time, ahead of a full reveal in New York on October 6. The car has a minimalist four-seat layout split by a central spine, a large screen in front of the driver, a small touchscreen where cupholders would normally go, and no cupholders at all. A digital rearview display sits at the base of the windshield, and the trim uses a brass-colored finish instead of the usual wood, with physical buttons on the steering wheel and doors.

The design has drawn plenty of reaction online, much like the exterior style Jaguar unveiled back in late 2024, which other automakers publicly mocked. Jaguar says the look is part of a new design direction for the brand.

If you're weighing an EV purchase for cost or charging reasons, the practical detail worth knowing is price: a former Jaguar executive said in 2024 that the brand's new electric lineup would likely run around £150,000, roughly $200,000. That puts this car well outside the range most homeowners would compare against when thinking about EV charging setups, home charger rebates, or electricity costs tied to daily driving.
