Hyundai unifies vehicle V2X capabilities with AllDayEnergy entity
Hyundai Motor Group is pulling together its electric vehicle charging features under one new name, AllDayEnergy, that will apply across Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles. The idea is to give owners of any of these brands the same app experience for managing how their EV interacts with the power grid, rather than separate systems for each brand.
The service starts with smart charging, which schedules your car to charge at certain times, sometimes at lower power, so you can take advantage of cheaper electricity rates and ease demand on the grid. Later, Hyundai plans to add bidirectional charging, meaning your EV could send power back to your house (V2H) or to the grid (V2G) instead of only drawing power in. Kia already sells a compatible wall charger for this from Wallbox, usable with the EV9 or EV6, though it requires an added grid disconnect switch. Hyundai has also said the Ioniq 9 will get V2H functionality in the U.S. AllDayEnergy will roll out first through Kia's app in the UK in the second quarter of 2026, with the U.S., Europe and Korea to follow, though no U.S. timeline has been given yet.
If you own or plan to buy one of these EVs, this points toward more home energy features down the road, including possibly using your car as backup power. But U.S. rollout will depend on your local utility, since charging and backup rules vary by region.
