Hyundai is testing a smaller electric SUV — could it be the IONIQ 4? [Video]
This story is about car news, not home energy upgrades, so it doesn't really touch your house or any rebate programs. Still, here's what's happening: Hyundai has been spotted testing a new electric SUV in South Korea, likely to be called the IONIQ 4, though it could also turn out to be a model called the IONIQ 1. The camouflaged prototype has a boxier, more traditional SUV shape, unlike the recently launched IONIQ 3, which has a sleeker "hatch" design built for Europe.
The new SUV is part of a bigger rollout Hyundai announced earlier this year, when it said it plans to launch 100 new or updated vehicles by 2030 across North America, South Korea, Europe, and India. This particular model is expected to be a compact electric SUV, similar in size and setup to the Kia EV3, which comes with two battery options giving an EPA-estimated range of around 221 miles or 321 miles depending on the pack.
Hyundai hasn't confirmed the name or specs yet, so there's no word on price, release date, or where it will be sold. If you're thinking about an electric vehicle purchase alongside home upgrades like a heat pump or EV charger, this is simply a signal that more compact, lower-cost EV options may be coming from Hyundai, though details remain unofficial for now.
