Hyundai is launching two new EVs, the IONIQ 4 and IONIQ 7

September 29, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 14

This is car news, not a home energy-efficiency story, but here's what's happening: Hyundai is planning two new electric SUVs, the IONIQ 4 and IONIQ 7, to fill gaps in its lineup. The IONIQ 4 would be a smaller SUV slotting between the recently launched IONIQ 3 and the IONIQ 5, while the IONIQ 7 would sit between the IONIQ 5 and the three-row IONIQ 9, offering two- or three-row seating.

Details are still unconfirmed, but the IONIQ 4 is expected to come with two battery options, roughly 214 miles or 308 miles of range, and a starting price around £25,000 (about $33,000) in the UK. It would likely replace the Kona Electric there. The IONIQ 7 is expected to offer at least 400 miles of range, fast charging with 800-volt architecture, single- or dual-motor versions, and a UK starting price around £45,000 to £50,000 (about $60,000 to $66,000).

Both vehicles appear to be aimed at the European market, and Hyundai has not confirmed either for the United States. If you're a homeowner thinking about an EV alongside upgrades like a home charger or solar panels, this isn't something to plan around yet. Both models are expected to launch sometime in the next 12 to 18 months, so more details, and any word on US availability, should surface before then.
