Hyundai is about to shake things up with 100 new vehicles by 2030: Here’s what’s coming

August 26, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This is car industry news, not home energy news, but here's what it means if you're car shopping alongside any home upgrades.

Hyundai says it will launch more than 100 new or updated vehicles worldwide by 2030, with 58 of those coming to North America. The lineup includes new gas and hybrid models like the Elantra and Tucson, but the notable shift is toward electrified options. The company's first extended-range EV (EREV), the Santa Fe, arrives in the first half of 2027, built at Hyundai's plant in Alabama. An EREV runs mainly on a battery like a regular EV but carries a small gas engine that acts as a generator to recharge the battery when it runs low, rather than powering the wheels directly. Hyundai expects it to go over 600 miles on a full tank and charge combined.

Hyundai also plans 10 new hybrid vehicles for North America by 2030, starting with the Genesis GV80 Hybrid this September, along with new battery cells that the company says cut charging time by 40 percent and lower costs on upcoming EVs by about 30 percent.

None of this changes home electrification or rebate programs directly. But if you're weighing a home EV charger purchase or thinking about how an electric or plug-in vehicle fits into your household energy plans, it's worth knowing more EREV and hybrid options are headed to US dealers over the next few years, alongside straight battery EVs.
