Hyundai IONIQ 5 N EV gets a big $6,300 price cut and new features
This is a car story, not a home energy upgrade story, so it doesn't affect your house or any rebate plans. But here's what happened: Hyundai cut the starting price of its 2026 IONIQ 5 N, a high-performance electric SUV, by $6,300, bringing it down to $59,900 before a $1,600 destination fee. That follows an earlier price cut of up to $9,800 on the standard 2026 IONIQ 5.
Along with the lower price, the 2026 IONIQ 5 N picks up a few changes. It now has a native NACS port (the plug style Tesla uses), so it can charge at Tesla Superchargers without needing an adapter. It comes with an updated drift mode offering ten settings instead of one, a charging cable that works for both regular home outlets and faster Level 2 charging, plus adapters for Tesla-style AC and fast charging. There's also a new blue exterior color and automatic rear windows.
The car keeps its performance features, including a temporary power boost mode that pushes output to 641 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque for 10 seconds, and a system that mimics the feel and sound of a traditional 8-speed transmission in an electric vehicle.
None of this changes home charging equipment, electricity costs, or any rebate programs homeowners might use for EV chargers. It's simply a price and feature update on one specific performance EV model.
