This is car news, not home energy news, so there's not much here for someone planning upgrades to their house. Still, a quick note on what happened: Tesla has started running its self-driving taxi service, called Robotaxi, in Miami. The cars operate with no one behind the wheel in a mapped zone covering 10 to 14 square miles of the city. Tesla hasn't said how many vehicles are actually on the road, and outside trackers who follow the fleet by spotting license plates haven't been able to get a solid count either.
Miami is the first Florida city with this service, though a similar self-driving vehicle was reportedly seen in Tampa, suggesting more Florida cities could get the service before long. Beyond Tesla, other companies running driverless taxis, including Waymo and Zoox, are also expanding in various U.S. cities, with Waymo currently the largest player.
None of this touches home heating, cooling, insulation, or rebate programs. If you're weighing upgrades like a heat pump, better air sealing (blocking drafts to cut energy waste), or weatherization work, this piece has no bearing on those decisions or on any rebate deadlines. It's simply an update on the pace of driverless taxi rollouts around the country.
