Green Business Certification Inc. Celebrates the 2026 Class of LEED Fellows
Green Business Certification Inc. has named its 2026 class of LEED Fellows, the highest professional honor in green building. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a widely used system for rating how sustainable a building is. Twenty-one people from nine countries made this year's list, chosen from more than 220,000 people worldwide who hold LEED credentials. To qualify, candidates need at least 10 years of experience as LEED professionals and a track record of leadership in the field, and they're nominated by peers before a review committee of current Fellows recommends finalists.
This news is mostly about recognizing people in the building industry rather than a program or rebate homeowners can use directly. But it's a reminder that LEED credentials and ratings are a real, established measure of green building expertise — something worth knowing if you're evaluating a contractor, architect, or consultant who advertises LEED experience on a renovation or new build.
The honorees will be recognized at the USGBC Leadership Awards Celebration on Oct. 21 in New York City, held during the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, described as the largest annual gathering of green building professionals. There's no new funding, deadline, or homeowner program tied to this announcement — it's an industry award, not a rebate or incentive update.
