Global solar O&M market reaches 348 GW as consolidation accelerates
This is mostly industry news, but it's worth knowing what's happening behind the scenes if you have solar panels or are thinking about installing them. The global market for solar operations and maintenance (O&M) — the ongoing work of monitoring, servicing, and repairing solar systems after installation — grew to 348 GW of managed capacity by the end of 2025. The business is consolidating fast: the 15 largest providers now handle 57% of that capacity, led by NovaSource Power Services at 38.4 GW.
For homeowners, the most relevant detail is what's happening to prices. In North America, described as a mature and competitive market, pricing pressure pushed the cost of full-service ("full-wrap") maintenance contracts down 18% over the year. That's a sign that ongoing solar upkeep may be getting cheaper as more companies compete for business, though the report doesn't break out costs specifically for residential systems.
Elsewhere, growth patterns varied a lot. The Middle East and Africa saw O&M volumes nearly double as new solar installations expand quickly in regions that previously had little of this service infrastructure. Several large firms, including Engie and Sterling & Wilson, grew rapidly by expanding across regions, while some smaller companies, like FRV's megaom unit, posted even bigger percentage gains. None of this changes what a homeowner pays today, but it points to a maintenance market that's growing larger, more competitive, and increasingly dominated by a handful of big players — trends that could shape service pricing and availability going forward.
