Genesis Ushers In A New Age of Fully Electric Luxury with the Flagship GV90 SUV

August 22, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 16

Genesis unveiled its new flagship electric SUV, the GV90, at an event in San Francisco. The full-size, three-row SUV runs on a 123.5 kWh battery with an estimated 316 miles of range per charge, and Genesis says it can charge at up to 350 kW. It comes with the NACS charging port used by Tesla and a growing number of other automakers, plus a portable home charger included with the car. Genesis hasn't said whether the GV90 will support vehicle-to-grid technology, which lets some EVs send power back to the house or grid.

This is a luxury vehicle, not a budget one. Genesis expects pricing to start somewhere around $90,000 to $100,000, with a loaded four-seat "Neolun" version — featuring motorized doors, rotating front seats, and heated wood flooring — pushing past $150,000. A limited "Neolun First Edition" is planned for the 2028 model year with even more added features. None of the pricing is finalized yet.

For homeowners, the relevant takeaway is mostly about charging: like other EVs, the GV90 will need a home charging setup to be practical day to day, and it uses the same NACS plug now standard across most new EVs in North America. Beyond that, this is a specialty vehicle aimed at a narrow, high-end market rather than a mainstream option most households would cross-shop.
