Fronius inverter + Renon battery pairing achieves CEC listing
A solar inverter and battery combination from Fronius and Renon has been approved by the California Energy Commission as a paired residential storage system. That approval means California installers can put in this specific inverter-battery combo with a simpler permitting and utility interconnection process, since the state has already reviewed the pairing as a unit rather than as separate parts.
The system pairs the Fronius GEN24 Plus solar inverter (available in sizes from 3.8 to 10 kW) with the Renon Xtreme HV 1.0 battery, which comes in 9.6, 14.4, and 19.2 kWh sizes. The battery runs at a higher voltage than typical home batteries, which the companies say cuts energy losses, and it's built in a stackable design so two to four battery units can be combined for more storage. The battery is rated for up to 8,000 charge cycles and includes Wi-Fi monitoring so you can track how much power your system is producing and using. A separate device, the Fronius EBLU, automatically switches the home to battery backup if the grid goes down.
For homeowners outside California, this news mainly signals that the pairing exists and works together as a packaged system. If you're in California and considering solar-plus-battery storage, this specific combination now has an easier path through local permitting, which can mean less paperwork and potentially faster installation timelines.
