This news is about a car recall, not a home energy upgrade, but it may affect a vehicle sitting in your driveway. Ford is recalling nearly 43,000 Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles from model years 2021 to 2023. The problem is a part in the rear differential (the unit that sends power to the wheels) on rear-wheel-drive versions. That part can bend, crack, or break, which could cause the car to lose power while driving or roll on its own when parked if the parking brake isn't set. Some drivers may also see a warning light on the dashboard.
Ford says it isn't aware of any crashes, injuries, or fires linked to the defect, but it has logged dozens of warranty claims and other reports. The company plans to mail owners a warning letter around July 13, with a permanent fix expected by late December 2026. A second letter will go out once that repair is ready. Owners can get the part checked and fixed free at a dealer once parts are available.
If you own one of these Mach-E models, you can call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 with questions, using recall number 26S50, or check NHTSA.gov for details on your specific vehicle.
