Ford Fathom may have a front tailgate you can put a TV in, per patent images
This one's about a truck, not home energy gear, but it touches on electric vehicles, which matters if you're weighing an EV that could also power your house or backyard setup. A newly filed Ford patent shows a front trunk, or "frunk," design for the company's upcoming Fathom electric pickup that works more like a fold-out tailgate than a simple storage bin. Since electric trucks have no engine up front, that space is often left open for cargo, and Ford's version would add a flat work surface, a spot to sit or set down tools, and even a fold-out television.
The patent also describes a hood with a swappable top surface, so owners could put a metal or plastic panel over the paint before using it as a workbench or serving area. Because the Fathom is expected to have a large battery, running a TV or other equipment off the truck for a full day is described as no problem, similar to how some electric vehicles can already power home appliances or backup circuits during an outage.
None of this is confirmed yet, since patents don't always turn into production features, and Ford hasn't officially detailed the Fathom's frunk. But if it holds up, it points to electric trucks increasingly doubling as portable power and workspace, which could be worth watching if you're considering an EV that might also support home backup power or off-grid projects.
