EVgo-branded Tesla Superchargers are coming

August 5, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 28

This is news about electric vehicle charging, not home energy upgrades, but here's what happened: EVgo, a public fast-charging company, is installing Tesla's newest charging hardware at its own stations, branded as "EVgo Superchargers." Construction starts this fall, with the first sites opening in the second half of 2026. Each location could have up to 20 charging stalls near stores and restaurants.

The chargers will run on Tesla's V4 hardware, capable of delivering up to 500 kilowatts, and EVgo says drivers could add up to 200 miles of range in 15 minutes at a compatible vehicle. They'll include Tesla's Magic Dock, a plug adapter built into the charger that lets Teslas and other electric vehicles — whether they use Tesla's NACS plug or the older CCS plug — charge without needing to bring an adapter. The stations will also show up in Tesla's in-car navigation and trip planner, so Tesla drivers get routed to them automatically.

For homeowners, this doesn't change anything about home energy upgrades or rebates, but it does matter if you drive or plan to buy an electric vehicle: it means more fast-charging options on the road, with less worry about plug compatibility. EVgo says demand across its network has grown more than 700% over the past three years, and more than 35 EV models with the newer NACS plug are expected in the US by the end of 2026.
