Eos, Wattmore link on zinc-based battery controls

August 24, 2026 · Solar Power World · Score: 18

Two companies that make large-scale battery equipment are teaming up, but this is a business deal for utilities and big commercial projects, not something that affects home batteries.

Eos, which makes zinc-based batteries for long-duration energy storage, is partnering with Wattmore, a company that makes software for monitoring and controlling battery systems. Eos will use Wattmore's control software, called Intellect Operate, alongside its own battery management system (DawnOS) on its Z3 battery systems. The idea is to combine battery hardware, monitoring, and grid management into one package that's easier to design and install, rather than making customers piece together systems from different vendors.

This deal is aimed at utility-scale projects, data centers, microgrids, and other large installations, not residential solar-and-battery setups. If you're weighing a home battery for backup power or bill savings, this news doesn't change your options or costs. It's more a sign of how the storage industry is consolidating around fewer, more integrated technology packages for big energy projects.
