Eaton is preferred smart breaker supplier for FranklinWH

July 9, 2026 · Solar Power World · Score: 38

Two companies that make home battery and electrical equipment are teaming up to make home battery systems smarter. Eaton and FranklinWH have paired Eaton's AbleEdge smart breakers with FranklinWH's home battery systems, and Eaton is now FranklinWH's preferred supplier for this kind of equipment. Smart breakers work like standard circuit breakers but add remote monitoring and control, so a homeowner can see and manage which appliances or circuits are drawing power.

For a house with a FranklinWH battery, this combination is meant to give more control over which loads (appliances or circuits) run during a power outage, potentially stretching backup power longer, and to support "virtual power plant" programs, where utilities can tap home batteries to help balance the grid. The breakers can be added to existing electrical panels in a retrofit or installed in new construction, and they connect through FranklinWH's Meter Adapter Controller. Homeowners would manage everything through the FranklinWH app, which is used to install, monitor, and control both the battery and the smart breakers.

This is a product partnership announcement rather than a program with specific dollar incentives or deadlines. If you already have or are considering a FranklinWH battery system, this means you may have an easier path to add smart, app-controlled circuit management alongside it, whether you're upgrading an existing setup or building new.
