E-quipment highlight: Avant Tecno e727 electric wheel loader
Avant Tecno has brought its e727 electric wheel loader to the US market, its largest electric machine here so far. This is a compact piece of equipment used for landscaping, construction, snow removal, and material handling, not something homeowners buy themselves, but it's a sign of how fast battery power is spreading into everyday work equipment. If you hire contractors for yard grading, driveway work, snow clearing, or similar jobs, machines like this could eventually show up on your property.
The e727 runs on a 27 kWh battery paired with a liquid-cooled electric motor, giving about 5.5 hours of continuous runtime. It can lift roughly 3,000 pounds to a height of over 10 feet. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes just over an hour using a 22 kW Level 2 charger, similar to the kind used for home EV charging. The machine also has a new automatic two-speed transmission that adjusts power delivery on its own, so operators don't have to shift manually between light driving and heavy loading tasks.
The bigger picture here is cost and reliability. Electric equipment avoids the swings in diesel and gas prices, runs quieter, and produces no tailpipe emissions, which matters for contractors working in neighborhoods or enclosed spaces. Upfront prices for electric equipment are still higher than diesel versions, and charging still requires planning, but as fuel costs keep swinging, more fleets are shifting toward electric options like this one.
