BYD’s electric luxury GT will get a major update for Europe in 2027
This is car news, not a home energy story, so it has little to do with upgrading your house. But here's what's happening: BYD's luxury electric brand, Denza, is adding a software update to its Z9 GT electric car in Europe in 2027. The update, called City Navigation on Driving Assistant, lets the car handle more city driving on its own, like stopping at red lights, yielding at roundabouts, sticking to speed limits, making left turns, and steering around double-parked cars. It uses sensors already built into the car, including a LiDAR unit, radar, and cameras, so owners get the upgrade through an over-the-air software download rather than new hardware.
The Z9 GT itself is a high-end electric sedan, roughly the size of a Porsche Panamera, with a very large battery and fast-charging capability that can take it from 10 percent to 70 percent charge in about 5 minutes. It comes in fully electric and plug-in hybrid versions, with the electric version starting around €115,000 in Europe and £105,000 in the UK.
None of this touches home energy upgrades, rebates, heat pumps, or weatherization. It is simply an update on a pricey European luxury EV gaining smarter self-driving features next year.
