BMW begins iX3 deliveries early in the US as demand surges
This is car news, not a home energy upgrade story, but here's what happened for anyone curious. BMW has started delivering its new electric SUV, the iX3, to US customers earlier than planned. Deliveries were originally set to begin September 25, 2026, but dealers were told to start on September 16 instead, due to strong demand. BMW says the car has racked up more than 100,000 orders worldwide, and the company has added a third production shift at its plant in Debrecen, Hungary, to keep up.
The 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive starts at $61,500 and has an EPA-estimated range of up to 434 miles. It can charge at up to 400 kW, adding 231 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes. Inside, it uses BMW's newer interior design, with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and a 43-inch display that stretches across the base of the windshield.
None of this touches home energy upgrades, rebates, or weatherization programs. If you're weighing an EV purchase alongside home electrical work, like adding a charger or upgrading your electrical panel, this is simply a note that a new higher-end electric SUV is now arriving at US dealers sooner than expected, with strong demand behind it.
