Autonomous military 6×6 packs electric drive and go-anywhere grit [video]
This story is about military hardware, not home energy equipment, so there's no direct upgrade or rebate angle for your house. The Army has picked a new autonomous 6x6 vehicle called the Hunter WOLF, built by a company called BLADE, for a research program aimed at helping infantry move supplies and injured soldiers across rough terrain. It runs on electric drive, climbing steep grades and crossing slopes that would stop a normal vehicle, all without a human driver.
The drivetrain is worth noting if you're curious about electric tech in general: the WOLF uses electric motors making about 130 horsepower, powered by batteries that give roughly 7.5 miles of quiet, battery-only driving. After that, a diesel generator kicks in to recharge the batteries while the vehicle keeps moving, stretching total range past 200 miles. That's the same basic idea used in some extended-range electric cars and trucks, just scaled up for off-road military use.
None of this involves home heating, cooling, insulation, or rebate programs, so it has no bearing on upgrades you'd plan for your own house. It's simply a sign that electric drive technology is spreading into heavy-duty, rugged applications well outside the consumer market.
