Audi’s most affordable EV revealed with over 400 miles of range [Video]

July 21, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This is car news, not home energy news, but here's what it covers. Audi has revealed pricing and range for a new electric A2, set to be its cheapest EV, ahead of an official debut this fall. In Germany, it will start at about €38,200 (roughly $44,000) and offer up to 403 miles of driving range on the WLTP test cycle, a European standard that tends to show higher figures than typical U.S. estimates. That would undercut Audi's Q4 e-tron, which starts near €47,500 (about $54,000).

The A2 e-tron revives Audi's old egg-shaped compact but with a more modern crossover-hatchback look, keeping the original's efficient, aerodynamic shape. It's expected to come with a choice of three battery sizes and four power outputs, ranging from 125 kW up to 240 kW. Recent spy shots from Copenhagen show prototypes with almost no camouflage, suggesting the design is close to final.

For a homeowner, this doesn't touch anything about your house directly. It's simply a look at where electric vehicle pricing and range are heading, showing that automakers keep pushing lower-cost EVs with longer range. If you're weighing an EV purchase alongside home upgrades like a heat pump or added home charging, it's a reminder that vehicle options and prices keep shifting, even though this particular model isn't confirmed for the U.S. market.
