459 hp, 0-60 in 3.9 sec, and AWD – meet Mitsubishi’s new-age electric EVO [video]
This one is about cars, not home energy upgrades, but here's the gist: Mitsubishi has shown off an electric version of its old Lancer Evo performance car, called the ASX VR-e. It's built in Taiwan by Foxconn (the electronics manufacturer) under its Foxtron car brand, not by Mitsubishi itself, though it carries the Mitsubishi badge.
The numbers are notable for a small electric hatchback: 459 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and a 0-60 mph time under 4 seconds, powered by a 57.7 kWh battery. That makes it more powerful than any gas-powered Evo Mitsubishi ever built. Slower, longer-range versions of the ASX VR-e exist too, but this high-performance model is the one getting attention.
Right now the car is only sold in Taiwan and Australia, with no indication it is coming to the US. For homeowners, there is no direct takeaway here, no rebate, charger, or home-electrification angle. It is simply a sign that electric drivetrains are reaching into niche performance and rally-car territory once dominated by gas engines, which says something about how far EV technology has come, but nothing you need to act on at home.
