2027 BYD Seal 06 Gets Lidar, BYD Da Han Gets 1,008-km Range
This one's about new electric vehicle models in China, not home upgrades, but it's worth a quick note since it touches on EV battery tech.
BYD, the Chinese automaker, is refreshing its popular Seal 06 model for 2027 with a lidar sensor on the hood (a laser-based sensor used for driver-assist features) and more power in its electric motors. The car will also be a bit larger than the current version. Full details on trims and pricing haven't been released yet.
Separately, BYD's new flagship sedan, the Da Han, is set to launch with an electric range of up to 1,008 kilometers (about 626 miles) on a single charge, using a 102.3 kWh battery. A plug-in hybrid version will also be available, offering about 292 miles of all-electric range before its gas engine kicks in. These are large, premium vehicles aimed at the Chinese market, and neither has a confirmed US release.
For homeowners, the connection to your own energy plans is indirect: as EV batteries get bigger and more efficient, that same battery technology often trickles down into home battery storage and charging equipment down the road. But nothing here changes what's available for home chargers, solar setups, or rebates today.
